Well folks. I've started this topic on the boards as we don't really have an HP forum for VI people online if you follow me. This is a topic where hopefully, we'll get to know each other's likes and dislikes concerning the Harry Potter series. We can talk about favourite characters, sweets, memorable lines in the books, favourite moments and scenes from the books and the movies Etc Etc. I'm hoping, somehow, to host a conference on VT in a couple of weeks on Sunday, which will also co-incide with Dan Radcliffe's 17th Birthday. He's the actor who plays Harry Potter in the movies. If that goes well, we can have more informal voice chat sessions on Harry Potter. Now, as the conference system seems to be sadly inadiquate and full of old junk, past conferences and such, I have decided just to get all you fans out there on The Zone together for an informal chat, probably in The Bar on VT if you have it downlo0aded on your laptops and PC Desktops. this'll be from 1500 hours to 1900 hours (Eastern time) as this is convenient for those of us in the UK, so, in the meantime, post anything you like on this topic, and hope to see/hear everyone who can make it on VT in two weeks time on the 23rd of July.

Er, don't really see why not, other than my PC doesn't like the idea of downloading Skipe at the moment, and it would mean asking everyone to post their Skipe names on the message board, where as with VT, Everyone can just connect to one channel and bob's your uncle!
Well, in the US, there are several 1-800 numbers people can call for a free conference that people can join.
Well I think its a really good idea and goblen shut up it is all in the spirit of fun. Harry Potter is a really compelling series. If we could answer some of our questions and ideas about the series then I think it would be fun to see if other people are thinking like me. Now if someone could find out abut getting a way to have a descussion. and What is this Sky thing or whatever?

Well Jen, assuming that the other community leaders don't mind, and that there is enough interest from other users, I'd be happy to create a room on the VT server for the day so that all the HP fans can go into and chat. I'll keep an eye on this board. So if you're interested folks, say so here.
emerald, skipe is a voice programme (like a phone) where you download and then talk to other users. like VT really.

and me too. i love it, favourite characters, well, you've seen them around on boards before, ron, hermione, harry, hagrid, too many to mention. oh gosh, i have loads of favourite lines, but, one of them is in the philosopher's stone, where mcgonagal catches malfoy. "wondering around in the middle of the night, how dare you"
That's absolutely brilliant and cheers Dan. I'm on The Zone practically every day, so, PQN me or Email/message me if the CLs agree. Don't see why they shouldn't though.
I really want to discuss too, but I don't know how to get Skypes, so if someone could tell me where I can go to get it I would that would be really cool.

Also do yalw think that Harry will defeet Voldemort, or will Voldemort and Harry distroy each other? If either or one explain your answer.
Just to clear up some confusion here. They're not talking about a Skype chat. They're talking about a Ventrilo chat which is a different thing. For more information look on the zonebbs home page for the (Voice Chat) link. That will tell you where to go to download the Ventrilo program and what to do once you have it.

Somebody told me that the seventh book is going to come out in July of 07, so if someone else has a clue when it might come out pleazze let us know.
Just to update all you HP fans on the conference that was planned for Sunday the 23rd of July, I'm afraid that we've had to postpone it because the host, Bellatrix Lestrange, is currently experiencing difficulties with her computer so won't be available.
As soon as we have a new date for the conference we'll let you all know right here on the boards.

While we're waiting for a new conference date though could I take this opportunity to ask that everybody planning to attend try and upgrade to the current beta version of ventrilo. This is because it vastly improves the audio quality for everybody listening to you. We were finding that people running the non beta version were experiencing some very nasty audio distortion which is extremely unpleasant on the ears. The ventrilo beta version can be downloaded directly by using this:

Following on from that ~Dan, I think its, best if everybody who would like to attend the Harry Potter Conference would either message me on The Zone, message me on MSN if they have my Email address in their MSN contacts and viceverser, or QN me on The Zone. Cheers.

Computer's almost back to normal now, but I need some filters as we use Orange Broadband with a BT phone and of course, they've gmessed with their phonelines wo everyone has to either buy these special filters which we'll have to do so we can stay online for longer than five minutes, or just go over to BT Broadband, so I'll let everyone know when I'm ready too.
O, and the channel you want for the conference is (the Hogwarts Room) when I give the word and we can go ahead with it.
OK, we just fixed up our new wireless live box this weekend and it hasn't kicked me off all day yesterday and all day today, so when everyone's ready, post a convenient date to have the conference to me by Email, Private Message on The Zone or just in a private quicknote, I don't mind really. We can't have it though, from Friday, the 1st of September to Friday the 8th of September. I'm going away myself then, worst luck, but any time before or after that week's all right with me.

I hope not as I just started the first book in the series last night. Mind you, I'm almost done with it, but still...LOL!
Anyway, I'm enjoying it and think I'm hooked. I'll be getting the book ASAP. *GRIN*

Well, mo, the conference didn't take place in the end. I had major technical problems with my PC and it all had to be rebooted, so I lost VT, Skype, you name it, I lost it, but, whenever everybody's ready and when I have a new mic which works with my Windows Vista laptop, just say the word on this board and we can go ahead with the conference. Any fans of H P can post on this board though.

Count me in, when we get a date and time set up. Seventh book had a bit too much death in it, but other then that, I liked it.
I didn't like the ending to the 7th book. It gave too much away, if you ask me. That left you wondering waht happens in Harry and Ron's kids' lives, and that's just another series waiting to happen, although I don't know what she would do with it if that was the case. I also think there was too much death in the last book, a lot of unnecessary people were killed, like Lupin and Tonks. Was that really called for? And why Hedwig? My favorite book was the 4th one, closely followed by the 6th one. I like the Goblet Of Fire because I think it was the most well-written one. I liked the Half-blood Prince because it gave a lot of background that was very interesting, and also necessary to understand the seventh book. I know a lot of people who said the Half-blood Prince was boring, but I don't think it was.
well, death usually happens in war, I like that bit. I hate, that harry named his kids lilly, james, and Albus severous. I mean come on, can you get anymore cliche'?

No it wouldn't make him a junior. If it would've been that, harry would've been james.
I dunno why I was killed. Guess I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, lmfao. Anyways, talking of samey Christian names, we have three Richards in our family, 1 is mum's and my Aunt's brother and my Uncle, the second is my Aunt's partner and the third, well, the third, they've kind of done a Harry Potter as well, for he was a complete surprise, not a planned baby so Lou decided to name him after his father, yes, you've guessed it, Richard James Robertson, born 30 March 2007, aw'w'w'w! So we just shorten his surname to Robbie, so for everyday, he's known as Robbie Robertson and not as Richard Robertson.
